Let’s talk about the incredible potential health benefits of turmeric and how to increase the bioavailability of turmeric.

You can consume organic turmeric or take a supplement. If you want to take a supplement, it’s best to get a turmeric supplement and not just curcumin. Curcumin is only one of many phytonutrients in turmeric. It’s also important that it’s a freeze-dried supplement.

Black pepper or white pepper can help you increase the absorption of turmeric. You can also consume a small amount of fat at the same time for better absorption.

Keep in mind that the phytonutrients in turmeric are heat sensitive, so cooking with turmeric could make them less potent.

The two main areas of research for turmeric are inflammation and cancer. A lot of the direct benefits of turmeric can lead to various other powerful effects, and turmeric also has virtually no side effects.

Potential health benefits of turmeric:
1. It increases glutathione and other antioxidant networks
2. It has potent effects on the brain and nervous system
3. It has powerful effects on the cardiovascular system

  1. In September, I ended up getting shingles. I was shocked because I only had 4 little scabby looking things on my arm. They were all located in a little cluster. The doctor offered a Shingles vaccine which I declined because apparently, I was already doing the right thing, I only had a tiny event which did not have the typical painful symptoms. At that time, I was 4 months into taking Dr. Berg Tumeric. I know this is why, my shingles outbreak came as a shock because I was expecting so much more than what actually happened. The tumeric protected my body from all the classical signs of shingles. Ironically, I am left with a tiny little smile face on my inner arm as that’s the formation my shingles took in their little cluster. Thank you Dr. Berg for such an amazing product.

  2. Love your videos Dr Berg! Today I was watching the turmeric video and I noticed you mentioned there were no known side effects for taking turmeric. Well personally I had a very bad experience about 2 years ago when I started taking turmeric thinking it would be great asset for bringing the inflammation down on my severe osteoarthritis. So I started taking raw turmeric 2 caps a day around 500 mg each, for around 2 months. After 2 months I ended up with a 6 mm kidney stone stuck in my ureter for over a week, and it looked like I might actually lose that kidney if I didn’t have surgical intervention. After looking at a particular test that indicates the health of the kidney, (and I forget the name of the test), my doctor urged me to get a stent put in immediately, but I was reluctant for any surgery that might be unnecessary. They did a CT stonagram and discovered the location of the stuck stone, and they also found 22 more kidney stones in both of my kidneys in various stages of development. Some were tiny and some were three to four millimeters. My daughter is an MD ENT, and she consulted a urology resident at one of the best hospitals in this country, and he recommended that I try a combination of about six medicines and herbs to try to dissolve the stone that was stuck. If I wanted to take the risk. And I did, because I really didn’t want to go in for surgery the next day. Took them for about 2 or 3 days and finally and miraculously (to me) the combination of medicines actually dissolved the stone that was stuck, and it also dissolved all 22 stones that were residing in my two kidneys! This was a great relief, great great relief, obviously. We narrowed down the culprit as being turmeric because I had had another stonagram just several months before this happened, and I didn’t have anything significant showing except about three or four tiny stones. And I have never in my life produced kidney stones that quickly. It’s generally two or three years between kidney stones when I have them. So I Googled whether turmeric can cause kidney stones, and the results were positive that it could cause kidney stones. So I have stopped taking turmeric ever since that time. But today I ordered some turmeric extract from Amazon, thinking that the extract would not likely cause stones like the turmeric powder did. I’m fairly desperate to get my inflammation down as my arthritis is quite disabling and painful. Wondering if you have an opinion on why the turmeric appeared to be giving me those stones so quickly, and is there a way for me to eat turmeric without running that risk? I imagine if I put it in food there would be less risk if it was combined with other edibles. But wanted to hear your thoughts on that. Thank you very much for the videos you do. By the way I have a list of those six or seven medicines that I was taking that actually dissolve the stones if you would like me to list them. I keep a supply here in my house just in case it happens again. That was a nightmare that I hope doesn’t repeat. thank you and sorry this is long.

  3. Hello Dr. Eric Berg, I would like to enquiry is there sufficient evidence from human clinical trials to recommend turmeric as a standalone proven treatment or cure for cancer ?
