Over the last few years, aluminum-free deodorants have become more prominent, causing many to ask: Is aluminum bad for you? What does aluminum in antiperspirants do to the body? Is it dangerous, does it cause breast cancer – or are the fears just a myth?
In this video, we dive into the latest evidence, and in particular, what the European Union concluded after nearly a decade spent studying the safety of aluminum and antiperspirants.

The surprising truth: Aluminum is the third most abundant element on earth (about 8.3% of the earth’s crust), but our bodies don’t have much use for it, so we don’t absorb much. Is the aluminum in antiperspirants different, and does it get more readily absorbed by the body? After a lot of studies, the answer is no – our bodies absorb far more aluminum from food than from antiperspirants.

My carpe deodorants dry out in the container and then do not come out when I turn the wheel on the bottom. I have to hold the top on or it pops off as I have to manually push the wheel up from the bottom.
